Merckx Mondays

For once, I’m actually sitting on some great Merckx Mondays content, so I’m going to let it float me for a few posts. This week, we’ll start off with Cooper Ray‘s lovely photos of Jay’s Colorado Merckx road. These photos were taken for Cultivar, a new enterprise arising in Brooklyn. More on that later, for now, let’s check out these lovely photos, taken on a Brooklyn rooftop, just before a sunset. Shots like this make me miss NYC.

Flag Hatchet Patches in Stock!

Flag Hatchet Patches in Stock!

I never thought the Flag Hatchet would be as well received as it has been. Since the stickers sell out so fast, I thought it was time to do something a little more timeless. But that doesn’t mean they’ll stay in stock any longer. These high-quality embroidered patches are 100% coverage and have an iron-on backing. They measure 4″ x 2″, so be sure to save a spot on your vest, bag or even saddle.

$5 for one patch shipped domestic, $6 international.

Sorry guys, these went fast!

Andy’s Signal Commuter

Reportage

Andy’s Signal Commuter

Seeing a show bike in a booth, at a convention center is one thing but bumping into it on the street is another treat. While I was in LA, I met Andy, the owner of this beautiful robin’s egg blue Signal Cycles commuter. I had seen this bike before, at the 2012 NAHBS but being able to actually take it for a spin around the block, as I looked for a photo spot, was an honor. It really did ride like a dream and it’s been everything Andy asked for, and more.

Cinelli: 2013 Mash SSCX Frame

For 2013, Cinelli has many new offerings but the one release I’m most impressed with is the collaboration with Mash on a new SSCX frameset. I know a lot of work went into this bike, so expect these frames to be a great option for race season next year. Or just some off-road fun.

Giro Introduces the Air Attack Helmet

Giro‘s newest helmet design looks like the cross between a TT helmet and a road helmet. That’s exactly what the Air Attack helmet is. Read up:

“Giro, the cycling world’s design leader since 1985, announced today the Air AttackTM, defining the next generation of cycling helmets. With a systematic approach to design and wind tunnel–tested performance, the Air AttackTM offers reduced aerodynamic drag, light weight and tremendous cooling power. Taken together, these factors can help riders to use their power more efficiently, creating what Giro calls “Free Speed”. The Air Attack will be available in two versions – including one with a magnetically-anchored optical shield, with MSRP of $200 USD and $240 USD respectively. The helmet will be available in Spring 2013.”

Shown above is the helmet without the Carl Zeiss Vision shield, to see more, check out a video below.

Fast Boy Cycles: Building a Bike for Gunnar

This photo was so good that I had to save it for Monday morning. Ezra from Fast Boy Cycles had the fortunate experience of watching his nephew for a week. To help time pass, he built him a bike frame, you know, because there aren’t many offerings for 8 years. Check out the full story at Fast Boy Cycles.

5th Floor: Hame

The 5th Floor guys just posted this new video:

“‘Hame’ is the fruits of a great few days spent with Angus Sung in my hometown and the surrounding Glasgow area. Hame follows myself and James Wright as we track out of Glasgow and into the Campsie glens climbing for the majority of the ride. The filming of it had a little more poignancy since its likely to be my last time at hame or in the UK for a while and I really appreciate Angus capturing that. It’s also a great opportunity to introduce James Wright who will be repping the 5th in Scotland. I did a brief bike check on his Kagero some time ago but you can expect to see and hear more and more on James as he flys the banner for us. Big shout out to Chris for being the driver on this one!”

LifeCycle’s Amazing Award-Winning Ad Campaign

This is too good. I love the topography lines made from chains and the map at the top. So creative, no wonder it won two golds:

“How often does a good ad comes along? and how often does a small local business get a chance to work with an award winning agency? LifeCycle had the opportunity to work with a team of great creatives from DDB Singapore led by Thomas Yang and Andrew Hook  (Creative Directors), whom created the LifeCycle’s outdoor and print ad campaign titled “Terrain”, “Roadmap” and “Cityscape”. The ad campaign was awarded 2 golds, yes not 1 but 2 GOLDS in the outdoor category! Kudos to the great team for the commitment, creativity and sharing the common passion with LifeCycle. Thank you for putting LifeCycle on the same page with international brands and spreading our passion with the rest of the world.”
