As You May Have Heard
My Geekhouse Woodville Touring bike was stolen off my porch yesterday, early afternoon. I sat it by the front door, went inside to fill up a water bottle and by the time I went back out the front door, it was gone. Someone walked up and rode off with it, in broad daylight, on our super quiet residential street. None of my neighbors saw anything and in a panic, I went all over looking for it, turning up nothing.
It’s still missing and I am devastated. I’ve put more miles on this bike than any other and it was my daily rider.
I talked to a guy who saw “a homeless man spray painting a big purple bike” in the neighborhood literally 30 minutes after it was stolen. If you’re in Austin, PLEASE keep an eye out for it. It was stolen on the East Side and the man who took it most likely painted the frame black. Other notes: it has those Resist Nomad tires on it but other than that, the build is exactly as shown here.
If you see it, or have any information, please email me. If you can get it from the guy, take it to a bike shop and send me an email. There is a reward if found.

Reader’s Rides: Andy’s Kumo Track
Photos by Andy Rogers
Australia has its share of frame builders and the younger generation of riders have started to seek out and support these artisans. One of which is Kumo Cycles. Andy’s new steed is a Columbus Life track frame. Laced with a mix of vintage and new components, this will be a joy to ride. Head over to Fame and Spear for more photos.

Outlier: Ultrafine Merino Tee
I have a couple of the standard merino tees from Outlier and they are the best. I can only imagine these Ultrafine Merino Tees will live up to the Outlier standard. Pick one up here, while there’s still stock.

Low’s New Stainless Faced Track Ends
I’ve already showed you the rough version of this new detail during my last Shop Visit to Low. For an extra $50, Andrew is now offering stainless facing on his track ends. This looks so good and I know a lot of people were asking why he didn’t offer this. Head to Low for more information on pricing.

Fairdale: Bobby’s Bee Story
We’ve all had an encounter with a bee while riding a bike. I got stung last week on our Cloud Burst ride and just recently, Bobby from Full Factory Distribution got a little more than he bargained for. Read up on the story and check out more of Taj’s killer illustrations at Fairdale.

Fyxation: Sponsored Photographer Contest
Fyxation is extending their sponsorship reach to potential photographers. Here are some details as to how you could land it:
“Photos of cyclists and their gear have the ability to inspire us, but behind every great rider or gear photo is a talented photographer. We wanted to put together a contest for the person behind the lens. This is a chance for a select group of photographers to showcase their talents, win cash and gear and become a sponsored photographer for Fyxation.
How do I enter? Submit a portfolio of your work and a bio to info@fyxation.com by July 4th. From these entries, we will select up to 10 finalists that will be eligible to compete for over $1000 worth of cash and gear.
How do I win? Once you are selected as a finalist, we’ll send you out free Fyxation gear for you to photograph or use in a video. You’ll then have 2 weeks to post your work to our Facebook page. Winners will be announced on July 18th.
What do I win?
1st place: $300 in cash / $150 in gear / Fyxation sponsorship
2nd place: $150 in cash / $150 in gear / Fyxation sponsorship
All finalists: You get to keep the gear we send out for photos. (As a finalist, you are also eligible for ongoing product sponsorship)”

Kyle’s Gilmour Track Bike
As someone who only rides bikes that were made in the States, Kyle‘s collection of steeds is quite impressive. Calfee road bike, Riv Saluki, S&M BMX, FBM Sword, Santa Cruz Stigmata cross and this Andy Gilmour track bike. When he picked this up from Anthony at Velo Cult, the allure of brakes and bottle cages took over. When all you do is climb on your track bike, hoods are the best thing you could ask for. The 44:17 gearing is ideal for the hilly rides of Los Angeles and tackling Griffith Park with ease… and the Campagnolo C-Record Pista group is just an added bonus.

Moth Attack
Moth Attack is one of the most unique builders I’ve ever met and not just because it’s owned and operated by a woman. I spent a few hours visiting Megan in her commercial live work space in Los Angeles, touring her facilities that are literally feet above where she sleeps at night. This is the ultimate bike apartment, where everything from racing bikes to commuters and mountain bikes hang from the walls but to add to the mix, Megan designs and fabricates custom bicycles inside the space.
Sharing the loft is Jack, a track cyclist and mechanic. Both Megan and Jack have seperate, lofted studio spaces where they work. See for yourself below…
