You don’t have buy a ticket to Bolivia or Peru to enjoy a few days of bikepacking. Recently, Yonder Journal found themselves in New England for a quick stint in Connecticut and some extensive touring in Vermont, all guided by none other than UltraRomance. Dubbed the Mad Wikkid Bike Toouah, this trip took our heroes through country roads in the green mountain state.

Bicycle Crumbs recently collaborated with Franco Bicycles on a custom painted, custom spec’d version of their Grimes all-road bike. Crumbs’ signature style is all over this build: a subtle dazzle pattern takes its color inspiration from a natural turquoise stone, which sits in contrast to orange and red concentric circles meant to mimic a desert sunset.

This is the fourth layout of the Radavist 2016 Calendar, entitled “Desert Layering.”
Saline Valley is a magical place, with long, swooping roads, washboarded corners and magical vistas around every corner. While the main attraction – a desert hotspring occupied by nudists in their mid to late 50’s and 60’s – might be a little weird for many desert weekend warriors, there are plenty of other au naturale sights on this road. Go there in the spring and early fall, for the summer months are a scorcher!

There’s no better way to shake jetlag than to take on a big ride. After riding in a relatively flat city for a few days, I was ready to head up into the Angeles National Forest, climb Mt Disappointment and Mt Wilson before taking off down Mt Lowe and back to town. It ended up being around 65 miles with over 8,000′ of elevation (not including the ride up Griffith asterwards) and my legs are feeling it today. As always, I try to take some photos while riding and while there isn’t necessarily enough for a gallery, I posted them up below.
Sometimes you need a reboot and for the team at Geekhouse, that includes not only a new logo (designed by the Boston-based Monica Hargrove,) but a new material. Marty Walsh has been building with steel for what probably feels like an eternity for him and in that time, he’s made the point to express an interest in titanium frames to me. Needless to say, I wasn’t surprised when this bike rolled through my inbox yesterday…
This disc road was built for the New England Sram rep, Andy Ewas. Which is probably the reason for the extensive SRAM and Zipp kit. On this build, you’ll spot the new Sram Red eTap and Zipp 303 Wheels with a Zipp cockpit.
Paint design on the frame is from the one and only Jordan Low at Hot Tubes. It features a Metallic Graphite Grey to Raw Ti fade. This is overlapped with a Candy Red to Blue over Raw Ti, revealing the welds underneath the paint. I.e. it’s fire!

As soon as I was back from Patagonia, I began catching up on social media, where it was brought to my attention that the NorthEast finally welcomed in winter last week.

Kyle’s got an X-Pan. A Hasselblad-branded camera made by Fuji that takes panoramic images and uses 35mm film. These cameras can create some exceptional photographs, especially when the photo is of such exceptional subjects. Whitney, her 20/20 Cycles Kalakala tourer and a Bukowski mural here in Los Angeles.
