Tom Schuler’s 7 Eleven by Peter D’Antoni

For anyone that watched cycling in the late 80’s, this bike should look familiar. Before Merckx built the team 7-Eleven frames, Landshark and Serotta had built their fair share of “Huffy” team bikes. On a recent group ride in Milwaukee, Peter from COG Magazine found himself cruising next to Tom Schuler, of 7-Eleven fame. This 1987 National Champ still rides his team bike, which is in perfect condition. It’s hard to imagine someone holding onto a bike for that long in this day and age but when you were a part of a legacy, that’s all the reason you need.

Peter was kind enough to send over some amazing photos of this Serotta-built team 7-Eleven. Check out more below.

Fixie Famous: Midwest Mayhem 3

Fixie Famous, the blog that’s piggy-backing on a fun hashtag that Jonathan Davis coined, posted the first and maybe only video coverage we’re going to see from Midwest Mayhem 3. It’s really quick and to the point, focusing on some bangers from Antonyo (Warhol?) and Boothby.

All the major trick comps going down these days have a lot to owe to Midwest Mayhem. It was really the first big competition and the pivotal moment in fixed freestyle.  After RideNStyle and other events went down this year, it’s easy to get hung up on the small turnout for MWM3, but I kind of like that.

I’m bummed I couldn’t make it out but it looks like people had a blast and a lot of these dudes are hanging out in Chicago for the rest of the month. Now the media blitz that will come from that trip will be off the wall. And even though I’m giving Fixie Famous a hard time about their name, I greatly appreciate this video…

Midwest Mayhem 3 Prizes Announced #MWM3

What I would consider the originator of the fixed freestyle competitions is back for its third year. Midwest Mayhem returns! Don’t miss out! Unless a magical bird flies me to Milwaukee and then directly to LA for free, I can’t make it again this year. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to make it out, especially with those prizes on the line.

Flavor Cycle: Food Delivery in Milwaukee

Snap! Delivery in Brooklyn really started a chain reaction in how bicycle-powered food delivery companies can work. When Alex moved to SF, he spawned TCB Courier and now, in Milwaukee, Kevin and Peter from COG Magazine have started Flavor Cycle. We all know this is far from easy to achieve and I wish these guys the best of luck. If you’re in Milwaukee and work in their delivery zone, make sure you help these guys out! Thanks for the heads Earl!
