Defgrip: the History of the Dig Logo

I may not be a BMX lifer but the Dig BMX Logo has always been visually engaging to me. Growing up in the metal, punk and hardcore scenes, I always found it relevant. Four fists and a chainring (sorry, sprocket), how simple. But what’s the meaning behind it?

Head over to Defgrip to see what Dig’s editor-in-chief, Will Smyth has to say…

FBM: The Tiniest Gypsy

I don’t have a kid but part of me wants to buy this frame anyway, just so when I do have a kid, they’ll have a piece of American steel to ride around on. If you have a son or a daughter that could fit on this 12″ BMX from FBM, I suggest you pick it up!

Mutiny Bikes: Doom Wizardry

Mikey Luplow is one of the most metal motherfuckers in BMX right now. His signature Mutiny frame, the Doom Wizard is out in August and in prep for the summoning, he and Cody Nutter have been working on the right incantations. Which, at the moment seems to be absolutely crushing the streets of Austin, Texas. I can’t wait to see what these two cook up…

FBM: Vagabond Ritual

It’s so nice to be able to check out vimeo now and what a video to lead into the week.

“Vagabond Ritual is an FBM feature film, with some of the most colorful characters in BMX traveling to and riding some of the best spots; Kona, Philly, NYC, Little Rock, Austin, Tucson, Sasquatch Canyon and Beyond! Get in the van and see what happens when Ruel Smith, Kenny Horton, the Ginch Bros, Jackson Allen, Eric Hennessey and the FBM crew and friends let loose on America’s freeways…”

Recent Roll: Steve Crandall at House Park

Over the years, I’ve established what many would consider a “relationship” with Steve Crandall from FBM. Sure, some of it has to do with his latest videos, or products but most of it boils down to our mutual, vested, stokedness on bikes. FBM is one of those brands that never will, nor have ever had it easy. They’re not all driving sports cars, or hanging with SoCal bikini babes in hot tubs in their condos but they’re still living the life that many of us would consider meaningful and honest. And I don’t know that they would even want that lifestyle.

While I’m not as into BMX as the next guy, I can appreciate good company and that’s what I always get from Steve. Well, that and a bunch of crushed beer cans and leather jackets. I shot these two photos at House Park one day, before we rode to get cupcakes and I like to think that both of us are happy with how they turned out.

You look great ripping that bowl, brother!

The Come Up: Stevie Churchill for OSS BMX

It’s been a while since I’ve posted some BMX content but here’s a great one to fill the void:

“So here it is at long last. This was filmed over the Summer when we first decided to put Stevie onOSS. I’ve known the kid since he was about 15 and he has always told me that he wanted to be on the OSS team but I wanted to wait til he was a bit older and more “well developed” to make it official. I love Stevie because even though he’s got all these crazy tech moves, Jeff Martin helped shape him into a really legitimate street rider. And on top of that he’s just one of my best friends and the nicest kid you’ll ever meet in your life.

I hope everyone enjoys this. If you do, subscribe to TCU on Youtube, follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook fan page.

Also this was filmed by Mike Mastroni and edited by Charlie Crumlish which is kind of like Gucci Mane covering a Beatles song.”

Defgrip: Japan – A Travelogue

This video is too good. What else would you expect from Defgrip:

“I recently had the opportunity to travel to Japan with Brian Yeagle, KC Badger, Joseph Frans, Broc Raiford, Chad Kerley, Alex Magallan, and Greg Illingworth. They went over there to do demos, but afterwards Brian, KC, Joseph, and I rented a car and took off on our own with the goal of seeing as much of Japan as we possibly could. It was much more of a recreational trip than a riding trip, and we had one hell of a good time. I put together this little video with bits of footage I shot while shooting for a Ride UK article and some footage Joseph shot with his GoPro. Nothing beats exploring interesting and unfamiliar places with your friends.

DUB BMX: Seamus McKeon

I always enjoy DUB BMX‘s videos and it’d been a while since I posted one. The latest from the team is from Seamus McKeon. You can’t help but enjoy it all, but my favorite lines are at 1:20 and the ender. Holy shit.
