You may have noticed some changes on The Radavist over the past few weeks. Well, it’s because we’ve parted ways with TPC. Read on for TPC’s official press release announcement on the split and what this means for the future of The Radavist with a letter from John Watson below…
… to move into our new office! Since relocating to Santa Fe last March, we’ve been looking for an office to run the webshop out of and to solidify the life/work balance. We finally found one, only a short bike ride from our house, so we’re going to be spending the day moving into it. We’ll see you back tomorrow with plenty of Radar and great Reportage to whet your appetite. I hope you can enjoy this day off.
First of all, I just wanted to thank everyone for reaching out, noting some bugs that are going on right now with the site. We’re aware our RSS feed has stopped, as well as the comment count. We’re also working on our social media plugins, which push our posts through to Facebook and Twitter. Thanks for all your help and patience. Grant is working on it.

I hope making this post alleviates some of our online sales emails but we’ve been receiving a lot from customers of our webshop, complaining that shipping is taking too long. We’re currently dealing with a pandemic, unlike anything our modern world has coped with before. Currently, the USPS is experiencing extensive delays in international orders. Why? Because there are very few passenger flights leaving the USA these days. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control, so I hope everyone can be patient. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Domestic shipping is also delayed. It can take up to two weeks to travel across the US.
For what it’s worth, I have ordered items from Canada and Australia using their postal systems that are over two months late in delivery. We’re all in the same boat.

We’ve been working on some site improvements during the pandemic and have rolled out the first major update to the UX of the Radavist. While Disqus has a “related content” feature built-in, Grant worked on a more intelligent version, giving you six related articles. Now when we post about Black Cat’s new gravel bike, you can find our Shop Visit to their workshop below in the Related Articles. Same with our Grinduro post today. When Grant Blakeman took over the arduous task of updating the Radavist, the only cycling site that posts a high-res gallery each and every day, we both knew it would be an undertaking that would take a long time. While most of the updates in recent months have been admin/backend, we finally rolled out a massive one, which will help the UI/UX roll more smoothly.
I’ll cut to the chase. Thumbnails! When it comes to big 100+ image galleries, having all the time in the world to scroll is nice but let’s be honest, most of you are at work when you browse the site, so being able to look through the gallery in thumbnail form lets you get to the meat of the post. This new feature lets you scroll through a mini version of the gallery with ease and jump right in. Or skip back through a few photos once you’re in the gallery. Take note the small grid in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. This applies to both the mobile and desktop experiences.
Lastly, we’ve added a “Click to View Gallery” hover on the mobile and desktop version of the site. This is a sure-fire way to show you that there’s more to the post than just the in-line images. We thought the “Reportage” category hierarchy was enough but your feedback directed us to more direct labeling of the galleries.
There’s also one that snuck in a week or two ago. If you’re on a desktop or mobile and would like to see an in-line image fullscreen, simply click on the image now to have it pop in.
