Velocio’s Unity Project: A Fundraiser for Coronavirus

We try not to cross-post promotions from our banner ads unless it’s a truly remarkable message. Velocio has pulled together a Unity project for 2020, with a men’s and women’s jersey, benefitting some key organizations. Check out their message on this fundraiser below…

You hadn’t planned on a pandemic. Your plans were reserved for family trips and events, long group rides or those types of big races or fondos that end with lunch on paper plates and a beer or three. Likely too, you had still less formal plans that included hugging your friends; you expected, at some point this spring, to share a bottle of wine at dinner with people beyond your immediate family. These losses are isolating before measures like social distancing are in place.

Yet, if the weeks of this crisis have taught us anything, it’s that we aren’t alone. We’re unified in our fight against the virus and our battle against the fear that comes with a global pandemic.

This year’s Unity Jersey is aimed to give aid to those who need it in these times. 100% of the profits from the effort will support three non-profit organizations. Save the Children / No Kid Hungry, Project C.U.R.E. and The Coronavirus Relief Fund, all crucial nonprofits aimed at stemming the impact of COVID-19.

The design of this year’s Unity Jersey reflects our position. It’s inspired by images of Dutch tulip fields taken from above: broad swaths of color so artful and impacting they inspire awe. Yet standing alone in each field, it’s impossible to see the effect of each individual tulip. There’s merely the flower or row of flowers in front of you.

We’re bound together in this crisis, this fight, this place on earth at this time and together, we make up a beautiful swath of humanity. The measures to fight the virus – social distancing, purposeful withdrawal from each other – are lonely, and yet the voluntary decision to make these changes means that, like those fields of flowers, the view from above is preserved, that we, as a global community, are more unified than ever.

Preorder opens April 2, 2020 and closes May 1, 2020.
