Readers’ Rides: Emily’s Cross Check

For our Readers’ Rides today, we’re featuring Emily’s Cross-Check, her first “real” bike purchase and she built a looker! Let’s check it out below!

This was my first “real” bike purchase. I’ve had a handful of bikes come and go since the purchase of this crossxcheck, this one has stayed in my quiver. Not that it’s the greatest bike that I’ve ever thrown a leg over, but the possibilities that I can run it as a flat bar, fat tire monster bike, gravel grinder, touring rig, or a grocery getter.

The endless versatility and multitude of configurations make hard to justify getting rid of it. The utilitarian design feels timeless and in 25 years this bike will still be just as aesthetically pleasing as it was the day I rode it home.

The particulars include. On-one Midge drop bars. Brooks leather tape. Headset Cane Creek 110. Thomson 70mm stem. Paul canti stoppers. Brooks B17. Paul tall & handsome seatpost. Drivetrain is a mix of shimano Sora & Deore(2×9).White industries eno crank. Velocity aero head laced to Chris king. These wheels get swapped between a deore wheelset w/ 43c panaracer gravel kings for when it’s rough and mucky.

Thanks for looking,
Emily
