J.P.Weigle is the east coast’s champ. His craft is unmatched only by his legacy. Peter’s work is both beautiful and functional, making not only the ride more enjoyable but catering each stroke to his clients needs. From randonée bicycles to simple city cruisers, Peter’s French-inspired designs are unique to his torch and this Robin’s egg blue 650b rando was a show stopper! At this year’s Philly Bike Expo, I finally got to chat with him and it was an honor!

So I’ve been building up to my Icarus MAX track bike for some time, showing you teasers and hyping it up with bling upon bling of beautiful components. If you think you’re ready to see this bike, then know for sure that I’m as anxious. A while back, Ian emailed me a few photos, one of which I’m sharing with you now. You’ll have to come to the Philly Bike Expo and see this bike before I can get my camera lens on it!

This weekend is the 2nd annual Philly Bike Expo and if you’re not going to be there, you’re not only missing out on a whole slew of events but also a chance to score some parts! It’s almost time for the 2011 Philly Bike Expo! I had a blast last year and I’ll be returning this year. My Icarus track bike will be on exhibit and if it’s anything like last year’s it’ll be a fun weekend. Check out my coverage from last year here and the press release below!

After a rather successful first year, the Philly Bike Expo is returning to Philadelphia. I had a blast last year, after riding 110 miles with a core group of guys from Brooklyn to Philly. It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the Final Photos for the 2010 Philly Bike Expo. After all those posts, my folder has run dry, leaving only a few photos left from the epic weekend. I’ll put up a post next week with all of the entries from the event coverage to make it easy to navigate in the future.

I’m nearing the end of my 2010 Philly Bike Expo coverage and I’ve saved the best for last. Bilenky Cycle Works has quite the cult following and it’s easy to see why. While my photos don’t even begin to do the builder’s justice, they come close!

Philly is home to many talented framebuilders. At the Philly Bike Expo, Engin cycles presented this gorgeous 29’r. Unknown to most, this bike was a trade between Engin and Jamie Swan. Jamie built Engin a road frame and they build Jamie this 29’r. Not bad! The details on this baby are to die for! And the color! Can’t beat it.

There are few framebuilders that can come close to J.P. Weigle‘s curves and lines that flow. His framebuilding is untouched and the details he tucks away in areas often overlooked by normal builders are to die for! I’m not making that up. From intricate cut-outs on bottom-bracket cable guide lugs, to throwback Columbus decals, heart-shaped vent holes and home-made Con-Denti road pedals, his bikes stood heads above the rest at the Philly Bike Expo. Circle A hails from Providence, Rhode Island and while their custom bicycle frames are to die for, their paint jobs are also about as dreamy as they come on the east coast. Their offerings at the 2010 Philly Bike Expo ranged from touring bikes to BMX frames and a whole lot in between.

In addition to Horse Cycles, Coast Cycles was another Brooklyn-based framebuilder that had work on display at the 2010 Philly Bike Expo. One of the new bikes on display was this green randonneuring frameset for a customer. Such a beautiful paintjob on this bike! Check out a few more photos of Coast’s work on my Flickr.

I hadn’t seen Gary in a long time and I was stoked to see him at the Bicycle Revolutions Fixed Freestyle Jam during the Philly Bike Expo (can I just call it PBE?). Homie shot a ton of photos of the Sweat Hogs gang having fun. There’s even one of me in there on Drew’s bike rocking the Metal Race ’07 shirt. Check the rest of his photos out right here.

I’ve been showing Baltimore-based Bishop Bikes a lotta love here on the blog over the years. There’s an attention to detail in their frames that just speaks to me. From using NOS tubesets to carving up lugs, Bishop Bikes’ frames are amazing!

I caught up with Bishop at the Philly Bike Expo and took a detailed look at their bikes. Check out more photos below.

Another local framebuilder that had a booth at the 2010 Philly Bike Expo was the Brooklyn-based Horse Cycles. I showed you these integrated riser bars from Horse earlier and now you can see their mate, an all-chrome track bike.

This thing was virtually impossible to photograph. All that chrome! The detailing on the seat tube mast is ridiculous. I’ll try to swing by Horse this week and take some photos of it.

The Philly Bike Expo brought out many beautiful bicycles and it offered up affordable booths to small companies who wanted to get their product’s names out to the cycling population. One of those companies was the Philly-based Fabric Horse. Known for their Lock Holsters and other accessories, Carrie and Mary have been busy cranking out products for their ever-growing line.

One show-stopper was this Bohemian track bike. Internal cable routing, beautiful lugs and a stellar paint job made this bike stand out from the rest. The whole time I was there, I found myself fixating on the seat tube clusters of various bikes. This one was one of the nicest ones there.

The 2010 Philly Bike Expo brought out some beautiful show bikes. Included in the bunch was Ian from Icarus‘ creations. Ian’s a funny guy and this shirt is just the tip of the ice burg. While I’m sure Marty at Geekhouse appreciated the gesture, I can’t help but think of what he’s got in store for Ian at the NAHBS this year. Payback’s always fun right? Anyway, on to Icarus’ bikes…
