In Stock for Now: The Radavist Summer 2024 Merch

We’ve got some fresh threads for your feet and head in our Summer 2024 merch drop!

We’ve finally found our summer sock supplier with a small US manufacturer that has developed the comfiest socks yet. Seriously, these socks are the best-feeling summer-weight wool socks we’ve ever worn, and we’re not just saying that! We worked hard dialing in the fit and feel after lots of feedback from our customers.

This drop includes our 1960s pop art pool water-themed Hockney design in turquoise, two colorways of the 3-stripe Klunker sock (a summer staple!), and our Sidewinder socks, inspired by the Mojave Desert Sidewinder’s ability to bury its body in sand, leaving everything but its eyes exposed.

Adding to the fun are three fresh colors in our Camp Hat design. We went back to our pre-COVID supplier, restyled the hat with a little bit more room in the head, and are offering them in three colors: Sage, Mallow, and Slate. These new hats feature a plastic buckle, and The Radavist script on the back. Sewn in Los Angeles from made in the USA cotton.

The Radavist Summer 2024 Drop is in stock today at The Radavist Webshop.

As with all of our merch sales, your support pays our team so we can keep the site fresh daily. Every single penny helps, and we greatly appreciate your support! From everyone over here, THANK YOU!

Bike Hacks: Tips for Cyclists With Small Homes and No Garage

When you have too many bikes and too little space, simply living your life feels like one big bike hack. It’s something Travis knows all too well, juggling multiple cycling disciplines, piles of gear, and a smattering of trail-work tools. With the help of a very forgiving spouse, he fits it all in (and around) a rental unit that’s about the size of a two-car garage. Oh, and he doesn’t have a garage.

Rockymounts Carlito Lightweight U-Lock Review: Fragile but Fantastic

This isn’t exactly a “review” of the Carlito lightweight U-lock. Reviewing a lock is like reviewing a helmet. You can’t be sure if it will perform when you really need it until a very bad thing happens. And when (or if) that bad thing does happen, there are too many variables to say if your experience will be the same. But Travis’s experience with the Carlito has been overwhelmingly positive, even though this lock may not perform when you really need it.

Cactus Store’s Don’t Bust the Crust Shirts

Back when this website was based in Los Angeles, Echo Park’s Cactus Store was our local shop for all things succulent and cacti. From potting soil to pots, books, and apparel, it had it all. Well, that store has closed, but the brand has a greenhouse shop in NYC and an online store where they sell lots of nature-nerd apparel. Coinciding rather closely with our From Biocrust, With Love, video project, the brand re-upped the “Don’t Bust The Crust” shirts, officially licensed and all. Check them out at the Cactus Store.

Rob Roberson Retrospective Party Recap: Past Meets Present

Rob Roberson has had a storied career as a bicycle builder for over fifty years and, until relatively recently, despite his incredible craftsmanship, he’s flown under the radar. A few weeks ago, Rob’s longtime friend and colleague, legendary painter Joe Bell, organized a party at his paint shop that was part Roberson retrospective (with nearly a quarter of Rob’s 100ish custom bikes on display) and part celebration of San Diego‘s cycling community.

Josh stopped by the festivities on his way home from Sea Otter to document this momentous event. Check out the full gallery from the party below, including detailed looks at several bikes on display.

The Radavist 2024 Calendar: March

“Palo Verde Oasis” is the third layout of the Radavist 2024 Calendar. It was shot with a Canon R5 and a Canon f2.8 24-70, in the Mojave Desert of CA. Photographed by John Watson.

“While Palo verde trees (Parkinsonia aculeata) don’t thrive in the northern reaches of the Mojave Desert, there are stragglers present thanks to migratory birds passing the seeds. On a recent trip out to Los Angeles, Cari and John came across this beautiful scene…”
