Readers’ Rides: DangerPubes

Readers’ Rides: DangerPubes

Wow. We’ve featured the work of the cycling industry’s crystal ball-gazing, doodle extraordinaire before but oddly enough, none of his other cycle-inventions felt as practical as this project does… Read on below for the full scoop on this creation from the mind of Bicycle Pubes with words by Dr. Pubey himself.

When @dangerholm aka Gustav aka Dangerous Dave reached out to me to discuss a collaboration, I was sure he meant to send the message to someone else.  In fact, I still think that.  But before he could realize his mistake, he had already agreed to a laundry list of terrible ideas for what would eventually be dubbed “DangerPubes.”

DangerPubes is what happens when every single idea in the brainstorming process comes to fruition, no matter how awful.  Pair this with deep industry connections and the most ridiculous parts bin the world has ever seen, and you have a recipe for a cross-country single-speed fat-tired freewheeled tracklocross bike that no one asked for.

Croc Power Grips?  Ultra-lightweight bananapacking technology?  Carbon rotors?  CAMBIUM?!  Enjoy it while it lasts.  Like all DangerHolm projects, it’s too beautiful to exist for very long and must be destroyed.  Back to the parts bin?  Into a fire?  We may never know.  DangerPubes.

We’d like to thank all of you who have submitted Readers Rides builds to be shared over here. The response has been incredible and we have so many to share over the next few months. Feel free to submit your bike, listing details, components, and other information. You can also include a portrait of yourself with your bike and your Instagram account! Please, shoot landscape-orientation photos, not portrait. Thanks!
