Philly Bike Expo: Bishop Bikes Item 4 Velo Classique

Chris Bishop. Chrisssss Bishop. Seeing his creations year after year at the Philly Bike Expo brings all the warm feels. This year he brought an Item 4 Velo Classique road bike to display clean and elegant detailing Bishop Bikes is known for…

The Item 4 is Bishop Bikes and Metal Guru’s collaboration project. These bikes are tig welded instead of lugged and feature many custom-designed hardware pieces and hand-selected components, including embossed Item 4 bottom bracket shells and Paragon Machine Works dropouts and derailleur hangers. There’s also a custom fabricated brake bridge.

Built with Campagnolo Super Record, eeWings cranks, paired with those EEbrakes, which are a visual throwback to the C-Record Delta brakes used in the 80’s. The wheels are White Industry T11 hubs laced to Astral Cycling Veil4 rims, built by Tommy at Cutlass Velo. The Thomson bars and the Engin Ti stem gives modern control to a bike that clearly has vintage sensibilities. The Ti stem is matched by a PMP Ti post. The Metal Guru paint job is the cherry on top!

Item 4 bikes comes with a standard one-color paint job, yet custom designs are available. You can also choose a fork from ENVE, Columbus, Whiskey, and others.

Since these bikes are a collaborative effort with Metal Guru, these bikes are available in a fraction of the time as a standard lugged and fillet brazed Bishop Bikes. The lead time usually lands within the 6-8 week range. Contact Bishop Bikes for ordering.
