Sexy Sushi: Pedal It Don’t Push It 2 Photos

This is what I’ve been waiting for. I know there’s been a few photos from the Pedal It Don’t Push It 2 competition, but I wanted to see Sexy Sushi’s before I posted anything else. He’s only got two on his Flickr at the moment, but these are better than anything else I’ve seen so far from the event. Check out Shaoxin on his Durcus 1 Stylin’ frame, tucked up over the bunnyhop bar!

Nice photos man! See the other one here.

Sexy Sushi: Prolly is Prawling

I think of all the people I have met over the years in the worldwide cycling scene, Sexy Sushi is one of my favorites.I used to look at his photos of the JAN crew on Flickr all the time and was always impressed with his photography. At that time, pogos and rollouts were the tricks considered “advanced” in the growing sport and Japan had them on lock. I met Eisuke (pronounced “yous-gay”) back in 2008 at Peel Sessions randomly. He came out, took some photos and then we took him to a bar and got him drunk.

The story continues below…

Tom and Sexysushi

Eisuke, one of the baddest dudes around Tokyo, has quite the following over here in the States. Everyone loves his photographs of the Japanese riders and when Tom and Wonka were in Tokyo for the Bicycle Film Festival, Sexysushi spent a lot of time with the two Yanks.Ichigo from Zibaspace upped a few shots of Tom at Komazawa with Eisuke and I liked this one the best. As a photographer, you’re always getting the “lemme see” and Sexysushi isn’t afraid to show you his work a little early.

Sexysushi: Tom and Wonka in Tokyo

Wonka side-rail-ride by Sexysushi

My man Eisuke Sekiguchi, aka Sexysushi spent some time with Tom and Wonka while they were visiting Tokyo. He took them to spots to ride, out for ramen noodles and spent a lot of time just hanging out, getting to know them. Naturally he took a ton of pictures during this time and they came out great! Check out some more below.

Toku by Sexysushi for Loop Magazine

Sexy Sushi just made a post on his blog outlining how he shot Toku’s portrait for Loop magazine. The shots are a bit old, but the explanation of how he lit the subjects to capture the mood of Shiba Friday is pretty cool. I think that’s what Google translate said anyway!

Reminds me of what Tak does when he shoots us at Peel. Low light and minimal flashes. Be on the look out for Peel, Mishka, Affinity and other NYC people and places in the new issue of Loop. It should be out shortly!

Catch the rest of the shots here.

Super Ted and Gekishi

I already miss Ted and his pirate jokes, massive airs and habitual drinking. Sexy Sushi has a nice little series with Ted and Gekishi up on his Flickr, so head over and checkem out.

Expect a full Super Ted post coming soon too!

Oh Snap Toku

Oh Snap Toku

From what I can tell, this guy Toku rides hard. He’s always making appearances on Sexy Sushi‘s Flickr riding his neon BMW.

These two recent uploads, in grainy black and white are tell tale signs of the riding that’s going on today.

Great shots man!

Back Before Hold Fast

Back Before Hold Fast

I think this is my favorite photo that anyone ever shot at the Peel Sessions. Eisuke, or Sexy Sushi as he’s known, shot Jeremiah from Hold Fast tire-tapping this column, before there was a Hold Fast strap. It’s been years (2008) since people rode 700c with 28c tires and well over two years since Peel Sessions. I really miss those days but I’m glad Eisuke re-upped this photo. Nostalgia dies hard.

Falcon Again

Having photographer’s blogs and Flickr feeds on my RSS reader is always a good way to brighten up the day. As of now I have SexySushi‘s, Kyoichi’s, Falcon Duran‘s and Ed Glazar‘s on my Google Reader.

Once and a while a pic of myself pops up in the mix. Love the NYC randomness on Falcon’s pics, the environment and composition of Ed’s, the new bike gear and even food on Kyoichi’s and the new tricksters in Japan on Sexy Sushi’s.

Keep it up guys!
