Absolute Black: Premium Oval 110 BCD Chainrings Jan 28, 2016

Absolute Black makes a lot of claims on their website as to the advantages of their oval chainrings and while you might not buy into it, I know people who use them and swear by the technology. New to Absolute Black are these 110/4 BCD chainrings, designed specifically for Dura-Ace 9000, Ultegra 6800, 105- 5800 and others. See more at Absolute Black.

I’ve got an AB oval on my MTB, love it. If they eventually make these for SRAM hidden-bolt cranks i’d consider getting a set for the road.

Definitely agree. Wont be long before I have something like an AB 42T oval direct mount 1x ring on my cx bike.

  • Got that 3d printed sort of look.

Some of texturing in-between the cross-hairs looks like laser C&C , so many design options .

  • I’ve been interested in these for a while, but I run 130bcd cranks, so I don’t have any options.

      • I’ve looked at their products, but what drew me to absolute black, is the lack of branding. Rotor’s branding is honestly attrocious and over the top. I realize that might matter little to some, but to me it’s important to not be riding a bike covered in over the top branding and logos. I’m somewhat interested in trying oval rings, because I already run very large rings. 61 out and 50 in. But I don’t think I’m interested enough to put money down for rotor products, good as they may be.

  • Absolute Black makes really nice stuff. It looks even better in person.

How do these rings work with front derailleurs? Doesn’t the chain height change relative to the FD cage?
