2011 Red Hook Criterium Milano No 2.
Trimble Racing and Nike Italy are proud to announce the 2nd annual Red Hook Criterium Milano to be held on October 15th, 2011.
For the first time in the history of the event a 5.75km running race will be held in conjunction with the cycling criterium. The two disciplines will be held as separate races but on the same circuit and in the same format. “Our partnership with Nike has given the Red Hook Criterium the opportunity to branch into a new community of competition. Having both a running and cycling race on the same night will increase the excitement for both competitors and spectators” says organizer David Trimble. The running race starts at 10:00 pm with the cycling event immediately following at 10:30 pm.
This unsanctioned race is held late at night on a short technical circuit in the Bovisa area of Milano. The cycling race will consist of semi-professional ‘roadies’, track racers, bike messengers, and urban cyclists competing over 18 laps. Track bikes are mandatory requiring riders to possess both street tuned handling skills and a high level of fitness. The 5 lap running race will attract elite level athletes competing for a large cash purse, prizes, and bragging rights to become the first champion of a night time running criterium. Keeping with race tradition, the after party will immediately follow the race where the top finishers will be showered with champagne, prizes, and cash.

The race features both local and international sponsors. Nike Italy is at the top of a deep list that includes the famed cycling brand Cinelli who is awarding a custom Red Hook Crit Vigorelli track bike to the champion of the cycling race. Supporting sponsors include Dodici, Ciclistica, Castelli, Elita Milano, Giro, Lomography, Continental, IRIDE Fixed Modena, Gage + Desoto, Eastern Mountain Sports, and the Brooklyn Brewery.
The race office is located at the Nike Stadium Milano (Foro Bonaparte 50). There will be a party on Thursday, October 6th 7-11pm at the Nike Stadium Milano where competitors can register early.
