Last night I went out to the airport mini here in Austin to shoot photos of Mike and Eric riding BMX. I mostly just went along to practice using my flash but couldn’t help taking photos of the guys goofing off and having fun, even through the cuts and blood.

As soon as we got out there, the daylight turned to dusk and the lights didn’t turn on for a few minutes. Eric was basically riding blind at this point.

But that didn’t stop Mike from tailwhipping out of the half pipe.

Then the flood lights kicked on and half of the ramp was illuminated.

So we moved the lights and the guys started blasting out of the ramp. Grizz air anyone?

It’s an eerie spot to ride. The ramp sits all alone in a field alongside a busy street.

Eric was doing fast plants.

While the neighborhood kids did what they do best: play video games.
