Yesterday while I was out and about, I came across this Colnago Crystal road bike Locked Up around a popular messenger hangout. Turns out, it’s Ian’s bike that he recently picked up here locally for a steal.

These Colnagos are referred to as the “Italian water pipes”, meaning while the tubing is still Columbus, it’s on the lower-end of the spectrum. The Crystals and the Superissimo frames often came with early Campy 8 speed and were competitively priced for the road bike market in the late 1990’s.
Sounds like the perfect work bike. You can lock it up and not worry about dents or chips. Ian will be riding the hell out of it I’m sure! All I had was my 80-200mm lens on me so I didn’t get any detail shots of the bike. Check out a few more at my Flickr.
