So Chris sent me an email today, asking what I thought of SxSW as a whole. Since moving here in December, one thing I’ve been missing is density. On any given day in NYC, I would have to dodge at least a dozen close calls, shout at cabs, give pedestrians a “heads up!” and worry about my bike being messed with while it was occupying a street sign. With a few months of downtime, I welcomed an increase in all the above.

Check out more below.

While I enjoyed the chaos, it’s over, leaving me to reflect. I got to see just about every show that I wanted to, save Pentagram, YOB, Cough and Helmet but I’m happy with the shows I did get to see. The music, madness and mobs were welcomed and now Austin remains, hung-over. I’m guessing it’ll take a few days to clean everything up!

Some pointers for people thinking of coming next year:

-bring a bike
-bring a lock
-bring lights
-bring a helmet
-bring sunblock
-bring earplugs
-don’t buy a wristband or badge, you can see plenty of shows for free
-flask it everywhere
-eat at trucks, not restaurants

This concludes my coverage of the 2011 SxSW. That is until I get my 35mm rolls back from the photo lab. In the meantime, check out my Recon posts:
