Mr. Pubes Goes to Interbike – Bicycle Pubes

Mr. Pubes Goes To Interbike
Words and Photos by Bicycle Pubes

“Could somebody please, find Bicycle Pubes, get a hold of this mother fucker so that I can make sense out of all of this!?”

The question had been asked, by numerous people, all over the globe, possibly on other planets too. But where was the answer? More importantly, where was Bicycle Pubes? This industry is a real puzzler and Interbike needed to expertise and the cognitive capacity of a real heavy hitter to sort all of this hoity toity lithium battery open mold bullshit out.

Luckily, John Watson was off vacation and back home in LA, where he had access to the Pubes Signal. Unluckily, I cannot afford a house close enough to LA to actually see the Pubes Signal, so after several days, John just called me at home. Told me to go to Interbike. I said no I’m watching a Scrubs marathon. He said come on bro. I said OK fine. He said cool. I said fuck yeah it’s cool. Then he hung up.

Several anxiety pills and anxiety burritos later, Bicycle Pubes landed in the dogshit town that is Las Vegas. That’s me. I’m Bicycle Pubes.

Without further adieu, here is some shitty art.

I Survived the Second Day at 2015 Interbike

Reportage

I Survived the Second Day at 2015 Interbike

The second day is usually the busiest at Interbike. After walking the aisles endlessly the previous day, I felt like everything of interest had been seen but alas, there were many more gems to be found. Some of which included:

Industy Nine‘s Match Stick Thru-Axles
Sparse and Bicycle Crumbs lights
Bruce Gordon‘s “All-Road” disc bike
Silca‘s mini pump and saddle bag by Yanco.
Paul Component Engineering‘s new MTB stems

… and all I got was a shot of bourbon (I did get to keep the shot cup.) Thanks, Blackburn!

Well, we’re here again. Las Vegas, Nevada for Interbike, the cycling industry’s convention where all the new products are unveiled to media, shop owners and the public. It’s overwhelming, like it is every year yet I managed to find some really interesting (and innovative) products.

Things to note:
Arkel‘s Bikepacking Bags are genius!
Moots‘ YBB+ MTB
Giro‘s Grinduro VR90 Empires
Maxxis‘ Rambler 40mm tubeless tires
Brooks‘ C13 assemblage

… and more!

On the Road to Interbike

Today we’re heading out to that no-man’s land called Las Vegas for Interbike. As with each year, there will be galleries showcasing products that we feel are pertinent to the site’s modus operandi. If you have anything specific you want to see photos of, drop a line in the comments and if you’re heading out, be sure to say hi!

Manual For Speed does Vegas

There are some weird, strange places on the internet and Manual for Speed is one of them. Not many media outlets can tackle Las Vegas into submission, but these two put out a damn good effort. See the Las Vegas Red Carpet post and the Cross Vegas coverage at Manual for Speed.

Also, surely you can see the difference between Daniel and I, right?

The 2014 Interbike Super Duper Ginormous Gallery Day 03

This is it, the final day of Interbike. My shutter finger is sated for the time being, my feet are sore and It’s been a busy week. I think I’ve hit all the booths I wanted to, along with some requests… Vegas is rad and all, but I’m ready to roll on home to Texas. Thanks to everyone who hung out and chatted this week. It was a pleasure to meet you.

Enjoy the largest gallery to ever grace this site and again, feel free to ask any questions in the comments!

Party Times at the 2014 Cross Vegas

Party Times at the 2014 Cross Vegas

Cross Vegas is the official kick-off for American cyclocross season, in my opinion anyway. It’s raucous, rowdy and best of all, FUN! The highlight of the evening for me is the Wheelers and Dealers event where industry reps and shop peeps battle head to head for a place on the podium next to Craig Etheridge – who wins every year.

The crowd loves it. Everyone’s doing handups, toss ups, spraying beer, hecking and this year, like it does every year, it carried on well into the UCI race. This year’s event drew big names like Lars van der Haar and Sven Nys – maybe you’ve heard of them? At any rate, these pros had an introduction to the party time that is Cross Vegas and yes, things got out of hand.

Thanks to everyone who hung out and made the evening an enjoyable one!

The 2014 Interbike Super Duper Ginormous Gallery Day 01

Interbike. The necessary evil of the industry and the culmination of the year’s energy for me. 48 hours ago and we were in the Sequoias, now, we’re in the towering landscapes of Las Vegas, navigating the halls of the convention, seeing new and interesting products and longtime friends.

In an attempt to make my Interbike coverage as easy to digest as possible, I’ll be doing things a little different. Each day, I’ll upload around 80 photos, with the company’s name in the captions. If you have any questions, ask below and I’ll answer.

Keep in mind, these are products I like and do not necessarily represent everything to see at the show. If you’ve seen something elsewhere that’s worth sharing, holler at me on Twitter, Instagram (@JohnProlly) or in the comments!

Interbike Had its Moments

Look, I hate Las Vegas and I’m not too stoked on Interbike, but being able to hang out with friends the whole time is certainly a high point. Especially these dudes. Magic just happens, like the moment I realized the vuvuzela makes an exceptional beer bong!

Each year, I’m already over Vegas come Thursday and it has little to do with the tradeshow and a lot to do with the fact that it’s the end of the ‘travel season’ for me. That and the excessive bourbon drinking. Hey, things get a little out of hand. This year however, I got to solidify a lot of relationships through tradeshow pain. It’s kind of like surviving a near-death experience with someone, ya know?

Anyway, Interbike is hell but there are a lot of rad components, companies and people in hell, so it’s a pretty good time. What was my pick on the second day? The Feedback Sports Velo Hinge. I’m already planning on installing 8 in my office. That and this rad flask from King Cage!

Manual for Speed at 2013 Cross Vegas Men Elite

Manual for Speed at 2013 Cross Vegas Men Elite

Year after year, the cycling industry flocks to Las Vegas, Nevada, a desert town known for debauchery, gambling and late night shenanigans. Like moths to the flame, people crowd the ailes of Interbike to see the latest technology in cycling, but during the frenzy-filled first day, there’s one thing on everyone’s mind: Cross Vegas.

The past two years have been huge and this year, when Sven Nys was announced in the roster, the heat was on… Since I couldn’t stay for the Men Elite race (see results here), I asked my good friends at Manual for Speed to submit a Guest Gallery. You know those guys right? They’re taking cycling by storm with their unique perspective on the sport.

This year, Manual for Speed will be covering ‘cross extensively (as they do) and what better way to start off the season than with a little Cross Vegas? Check out more in the Gallery and keep your eyes glued to Manual for Speed this ‘cross season!

After spending a week at Eurobike, I was already over tradeshows. For me, Interbike is less about seeing new products and more about meeting people and hanging out but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy shooting products. My favorite product from the first day was the Paul Component quick release skewers…

Cross Vegas Singlespeed

Reportage

Cross Vegas Singlespeed

Hey, #CrossIsHere. Each year, Cross Vegas represents the kick-off for cyclocross racing in the States. Everyone’s stoked, racing new bikes, on freshly trained legs and ready to stare down those beer hand ups (or get beer thrown in their faces). This year, I did things a little differently, focusing more on the singlespeed race and rider / bike portraits. I’ve got more coming from the other races, but for now, enjoy!

Check out more in the Gallery!

Thanks Interbike!

Mission Workshop | Acre: Dan Barham’s WANDER Photo Show at Interbike

I’ve seen some of the photos that Dan Barham shot during the Mission Workshop ACRE photo shoots in the Alps and they are amazing. If you’re going to Interbike, make sure you swing through the photo show party, WANDER:

“In WANDER, Dan Barham captures a few of Europe’s best mountain trails on film. The tour was designed to test the upcoming Acre line of weatherproof trail packs and apparel fit for riding. At Interbike (Booth #4137) we will be launching both Dan’s photo journal and the new Acre line. Stay tuned for all the details on the MW Blog: http://missionworkshop.com/blog/
