Fyxomatosis: Office

While the Fixed Mag cover is a beautiful sealed road, this road epitomizes unsealed beauty. Andy posted this around the beginning of the New Year and I was holding off to post it so I didn’t jinx my trip back to Melbourne. I’ll be staring down this frontage road once again and I can’t wait. This truly is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and having ridden it already, maybe it’ll be easier? Who knows. Andy and Dan are already threatening to “break me again“…

Fyxomatosis: Obsessive. Complusive.

Photos by Andy White

These hands have graced some of the most pristine bicycles in Melbourne, many of which were brought in by Andy of Fyxomatosis. While Dan from Shifter Bikes supplies the obsessive, compulsive and meticulous workflow, Andy steps back and documents for the world to see. You’ve gotta check out the full photo gallery at Fyxo. It should be inspiring to anyone who finds themselves drawn into the details.

Oh and, see you guys in April!!!!!!

Merckx Mondays

Even though I have two awesome road bikes, part of me still misses riding my MX-Leader. Sure, they aren’t the lightest of bikes but they ride like none other. Even after parting with mine, I based both of my custom road bikes on its geometry. But this one’s got a history behind it. I rode this bike while I was in Australia last year and loved it. So when I saw Andy was parting with it, I got all pensive and contemplated buying it for a second.

This is one beautiful example of a non-team issue paint job on a stunning MX-Leader and FYXO is selling it now. If you ride a 58cm and have been looking for one, look no further. Check out his eBay auction here.

Baum Cycles Corretto Rapha Gazzet Paper for ACBS

Baum Cycles Corretto Rapha Gazzet Paper for ACBS

The Australian Custom Bicycle Show is this weekend in Australia and this bike is only one of the prime examples of Australian craftsmanship that will be on display. As part of the Rapha Continental Australia, Darren Baum worked closely with Rapha to design one of the wildest Baum Corretto paint jobs I’ve ever seen. Integrating the Rapha Gazzet Paper seamlessly into the wet coat creates a one-of-the-kind aesthetic.

The build? Pretty straight forward with full SRAM Red, ENVE clinchers, Fizik saddle and custom Busyman Bicycles bar tape to top it off. Check out more high-res photos of this beauty in the Gallery and if you’re in Australia, get your ass to the ACBS this weekend.

I can’t even begin to think where Merckx Mondays would be without the assistance from Andy White from Fyxomatosis. The man probably buys a new Merckx frame every other week and when he builds it up, it’s pristine. Dura Ace was the kit of choice back in this era. Oh and having a model in a 7 Eleven kit is a lot nicer than propping the bike up with a stick!

Fyxomatosis: E61 Mongoose Handle

Espresso is a cyclist’s manna. I once heard someone say “so what does coffee have to do with cycling anyway?”. The E61 is one of the most famous espresso machines. Made by Faema, the team that sponsored Merckx in his early days, when he rode a De Rosa. So what does this have to do with a Mongoose grip on an E61 handle? Absolutely nothing. But it’s rad. Radness made by the Gonz in Melburn.

Follow @Gonzlab on Instagram for more intriguing creations and lots of bad grammar.

Thanks to FYXO for the photo!
