Chrome: Elements by Ben Ferencz of FairEnds

This year, Chrome is doing something a little different with their limited edition bag run:

“Each season Chrome drops a limited edition of our most popular bags. This year we’ve partnered with Ben Ferencz – gentlemen, farmer, and creative director of the much loved Freeman Transport (R.I.P.). Designer and maker of stuff from the mountains & valleys of Montana, Ben is originally from NYC and has a unique perspective on what it means to live the city.

CHROME ELEMENTS includes heritage buckle messenger bags, technology packs, militia rolltops and accessories. Inspired by the natural dyes and trims used in original outdoor gear of the 1930’s and 40’s. Guaranteed for life.

ALL PRODUCTS MADE IN THE USA”

See more at Chrome and check out an interview with Ben Ferencz below.

Chrome: Custom Military Salvage Program

Last year US Army Vehicle Commander Jared Morford of Watertown, South Dakota reached out to Chrome to make a Custom Salvage bag with the duffle he carried to Iraq. Chrome’s Custom Salvage Citizen was born.

In honor of Memorial Day, Chrome is launching a Custom Military Salvage Program for U.S. Military veterans & their families. If they bring in their military duffles or fatigues to one of Chrome’s four HUBs (SF, NY, CHI, or PDX), we’ll use the material to create a custom Citizen Messenger bag.

Cardiel x Chrome: Sacramento to Chico

Here’s the latest from Cards and Chrome:

“On a summer day, Chrome Familia member John Cardiel and a couple of friends rode from his home in Sacramento 100 miles north to the Chrome Bag factory in Chico, CA. The intent was to see his new Fortnight travel bag being made. It just so happened that the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is two blocks away from the Chrome bags factory. Here is what ensued.”

Squid and His Squarebuilt Track

Reportage

Squid and His Squarebuilt Track

Squid was one of the first “OG messengers” in NYC who reached out to me. Still to this day, I have the utmost respect for the man. He embodies the hardworking NYC hustle but is never to busy to stop and chat for a minute. He’s split off from his old courier crew, now named Street Kings NYC and continues to push advocacy through Cyclehawk, Velo City and is the rep from Chrome in NYC.  I caught up with Kevin last week in NYC and shot some photos of his work bike, a custom Squarebuilt track bike.
