Vans Looks to its Legacy with the BMX Checkerboard Pack May 7, 2018

Vans is sitting on a 40-year legacy in action sports and that gives its designers a lot to look to for inspiration. This includes colorways first worn and sported by its own BMX team riders in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. The BMX Checkerboard pack highlights the Era and Sk8-Hi, which are each outfitted in a two-tone color scheme and checkerboard printed sidewalls. These two models include throwback color references to the inception of the BMX and skate scene.

Look for the BMX Checkerboard Pack in June online at Vans and in select retailers.

Man, I love Van’s with all my heart, but I had a pair of Half Cab Pro’s go bad within a month (were replaced by Van’s) and the replacement pair didn’t make it through April. Worst luck I’ve had with Christmas present, ever! I hope the qc is better on these than their “Pro” line…

I love this. I still race BMX and I still wear Vans.

So freaking sweet. My first pair 1986 , pirate skulls. True love. Ah… the sweet eighties.

Time to rerelease the DYNO versions

well, maybe not. Hahahaha, still would be cool

  • I stopped buying Vans several years ago. After having pairs last over two or three years, I had a string of shoes which barely last six months, coming apart at the seams and glued edges. Got sick of having to buy the “pro” models to get not as good as the old school build quality.

Same here. They were my first sk8 shoe and I will always love their style but I’ve moved on to look a like brands like Chrome that will at least last a year.
      Get it together, Vans!
