Friday’s Office Meeting

MtD-7

There’s something about winter for me. I’m not sure if my body intentionally wants to take it easy before the hustle and bustle of spring hits, or if it’s just nice to sometimes dial back riding in the interest of not getting burnt out. Whatever the reason, each winter I find myself riding less and resting more. At least compared to normal frequencies.

I hadn’t been up into the Angeles National Forest with another rider in a few weeks. Usually I just go at my own pace with no real agenda which leaves my ride open to any possibility, including just going out for an hour or two. When Sean asked if I was interested in a casual ride up to Mt. Disappointment, I knew I was gonna be in for a few hours of steady climbing and a bit of pain.

A bit is an understatement. These winter legs have been spending too much time on the mountain bike as of late and weren’t accustomed to my standard road gearing or mountain grades. I guess it takes a bit of pain to motivate you into higher fitness levels, or all is going as planned since this year is already shaping up to be a busy one…

At the end of the day, I clocked in around 70 miles with around 7,000′ of elevation and a few photos worth sharing. Even if it isn’t in gallery format.
