What a PRO Sprint Finish Looks Like May 14, 2014

So, at the first stage of the Amgen Tour of California, each of the Shimano-sponsored pros had Shimano Sport Cameras on their seat tubes and head tubes with one intention: to capture the final sprint…

They need to have more of this during televised race coverage. The TdF coverage would be great with more of these perspectives, as well as rider stats (ie watts, speed, etc).

Hopefully that happens soon, but right now the batteries used in the cameras don’t have the capacity for a full race. That plus they’re not technically legal, the ATOC was given special permission to use these cameras as a test bed for future use. That said, I really hope they get broad support and full approval across the calendar. I would love to see these in the classics, especially the velodrome at the end of Paris Roubaix.

Arrrghhhh !! Pirate here. Would be cool but most of the peloton are guarded about WATTS data. Totally agree about speed and other info and graphics. cadence/grade/ using graphic to identify rides in pack or on sprints. Basically, needs to be a little more like auto racing when it comes to data back to the TV audience. Cycling coverage is 25 yrs behind the curve.

Agreed, way behind in TV coverage

        ECU Pirate?
