My Milwaukee Orange One road was absolutely filthy after our 2-day adventure in the Australian Bush. Dust, dirt, clay, sweat, dead bugs and mud caked its crevices and it was riding like shit. After I woke up, I pedaled over to Shifter Bikes yesterday to see Dan and Zo. Before I knew what was happening, Zo had taken the bike outside for a good old fashioned wash.

When you take your bike in to Shifter to get serviced, they don’t fuck around. If Dan is going to touch your bike, it has to be completely cleaned and free of any muck. Any mechanic who doesn’t wear gloves knows what they’re doing. By using a diluted series of degreasers, all the road grime and filth was gone. Once it was dry, they polished the entire bike with automotive wax and lubed the drivetrain.
It’s amazing how a little TLC can make your bike feel like new. If I lived here in Melbourne, I wouldn’t let anyone else touch my ride. Thanks to Dan and Zo for being such amazing hosts.
