While I partially see where she’s coming from, it’s not like cycling is on the same page as Aussie rules or American football. There is little coverage of professional cycling in the Aussie and American media and unlike more popular sports like football, cycling is a form of transportation, an alternative to the world’s dependency on oil. I agree with Andy here in saying that maybe this national hero will inspire drivers to acknowledge those people in lycra riding on the road in a positive way. Maybe next time they see someone on the road, they’ll give them room rather than simply honking at them or cutting too close to them. Mia‘s main issue is lack of foresight.
