London 2012 Velo Park Dec 21, 2009

Progress is being made on London’s Olympic park; specifically, the Velodrome and BMX portion of the park, called the Velo Park. As the video points out, the Velodrome will be complete January 2011, giving London a bit of home field advantage as their team will be training on the track immediately. The Velo Park is massive, with 6,000 indoor seats and the outdoor BMX circuit will have 6,000 temporary seats. With the growth of cycling worldwide over the past few years, officials speculate that the park will be one of the larger attractions during the Olympics.

Check out a rendering below.

Very impressive. It’s good to hear that they will continue to use the exterior tracks after the Olympics.

They should put the BMX park in the infield of the velodrome. Can you imaging hardcore strint races going on aroung guys doing double front flips on ramps? How bad ass whould that be?
